Suggest Remedy For Severe UTI With Pain In Abdomen And Appendix

default
Posted on Tue, 5 Jan 2016
Question: was just discharged from 6 day hospitalization due to a bad uti. I started to get lower right squeezing pain between ovary and appendix. My symptoms at this point we're vomitting, naseous, loss appetite, and the lower right pain. My doctor concluded based off a CT scan done a week and half ago that the pain was related to my uti. My concern is that my gyn examined me and said the pain is closer to my appendix area. No fevers, slightly elevated wbc. Any advice?

Hi and thank you for asking!
I read carefully all your concerns and I can say as follows:
1 . Your symptoms like vomiting, nauseous, loss appetite and lower right pain can be due to:
- UTI
- acute appendicitis
Elevated level of WBC can be too due to UTI or appendicitis.

2. If your symptoms would be due to severe appendicitis you would not be improved only with antibiotics, but only operation would have improved your symptoms.
This is why the mostly diagnose of your situation would be UTI.

3. Otherwise I would like to know if you have done abdominal ultrasound at the time of your hospitalization.
If yes please upload to me your abdominal ultrasound report.

Hope it was helpful to you.

no I did not have any testing during my hospital stay. But what about chronic appendicits because this is not the 1st time I have had this pain. After I finished my antibiotics my wbc did not move. Does that mean the uti isn't gone?or something else is happening

Hi and thank you for follow up.

Usually chronic appendicitis has characteristics and signs on ct scan like enlarged regional lymph node, thickening wall of appendix etc.
You are not reporting to have these signs.

With regards to elevated wbc, I can say that you should do PCR to confirm/ rule out if you still have infection.

Wish you all the best!
