Suggest Remedy For Severe Cold, Fever And Headache

Home management, nursing & doctor's advise as per need.
Detailed Answer:
Hi xxxxxxxxxxxxx,
Thanks for the query under health care magic platform.
I have read your query. Your friend had head ache to start with, for it she took Adcodol( a combination of paracetamol, caffeine and codeine phosphate. SHE did not get relief , but vomited out & has associated fever in addition , the feeling of cold persists.
* I guess that she might have taken the pill on an empty stomach/ the dose taken exceeded her need. This caused gastric disturbance, indigestion as a result she vomited the food.
Fever with cold she has now ,suggests allergic common cold or infection.. which can be viral/ bacterial.
* Viral infection needs symptomatic medicines & usually resolves in 5 days time.
In this view I would suggest Paracetamol tablet 250 mg six hourly. with antacid like ranitidine 150 mg 8 hourly . Cetrizine ( once a day )) should be added in case she has watering of nose or sneezing. She should take the medicine after eating ( not on an empty stomach )
- She should take rest. Have light nutritive diet with plenty of water.
She should be taken to her family doctor after she is comfortable & get further instructions about the medicines.
* But if there is -
- Vomiting
- High grade fever / fever is not controlled after taking 4 doses of medication..
- In case she has severe cough, cold with yellow nasal discharge/ sputum, severe head ache,
- any other symptom along with fever ( like burning in urine, some abscess formation, severe loose motions along with vomiting)
** She should consult her family physician immediately for physical examination, investigations And specific treatment with needful antibiotics.along with other drugs.
This way you can help her in her illness.
I hope the answer is both informative & useful to you. Any follow up query is welcome.
Please grade the answer before you close it.

rest
Detailed Answer:
Hi xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx,
Thanks for the follow up query. It indicates your concern about your friend.
Felling of inner cold or chills is sign of an inflammation any where in body / it may be due to scare, stress or strain or as a reaction to high grade fever.
You say she has minimal fever.. in that case, she needs rest, Start paracetamol if fever rises or she has head ache along with Ranitidine for a day.
Take her to her family doctor to exclude inflammation or infection & medicinal advise in case she does not improve after a days medicatio & rest.
Let her have nutritious/ light diet , multivitamins & rest for a couple of days.
I hope that satisfies you. Any follow up query is welcome.
Thanks.

should we go see a doc. or continue with the paracetamol as she feels a lot better
consult her family doctor/ gynecologist.
Detailed Answer:
Hi xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx,
Thanks for the follow up query.
I am happy that she is feeling better.
- You say she has burning in urination.. which is a sign of infection of urinary tract.
Again the swelling on upper right thigh can be joint pain as in past, but again it needs to be evaluated.. it can be painful lymph node in groin. which can be caused by some infection / inflammation in it's drainage area( vulva, vagina, anal region, buttocks. )
- Obviously she has to consult her doctor/ a gynecologist if she has vaginal discharge along with burning (earlier the better) - to get these points clear. After physical examination she may need few pathological tests .. ( complete blood count, urine test, vaginal swab test etc.). these help in finding the root cause of problem
- Doctor will then advise specific antibiotics & other supportive drugs to take care of her health. Some conditions need treatment of both sex partners.
- Till then continue with tablet paracetamol if fever/ head ache is there, rest, light nutritious diet. Let her drink plenty of water. Barley water or any alkaline mixture over the counter would help in relieving burning while peeing. Hygiene of vaginal part is important
I feel that satisfies you.any other follow up query you have.. you are welcome.
Thanks.
