Suggest Remedy For Severe Colic In An Infant

Question: My son who has turned 8 months recently cries/screams in his sleep with eyes shut. my paed had advised neopeptine drops, bit it isn't helping and he relaxes when he is latched to me. this is giving me sleepless nights. pls help
Brief Answer:
Do not worry
Detailed Answer:
Hi
I understand your concerns but don't worry. If your baby is active, alert, afebrile and feeding well then the condition is most likely due to mild sleep discomfort, hunger or colics.
You may give neopeptin drops. Give it before feeds thrice daily along with burping in between and after feeds.
Ensure good complementary feeds along with breastfeeding to ensure satiety. Check for wet diapers, tight clothing and room temperature. Most babies show such phases during sleep once in a while and they improve without any intervention over a few days. Try to establish sleep routine.
Hopefully it will be of help.

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Babies show wide variations in achievement of milestones. We recommend evaluation only if a child doesn't sit or crawl by 10 months of age.
Babies need proper sleep routine since early infancy so that sleep disturbances can be avoided.
Your baby will be more relaxed if she knows what's coming next. And the more relaxed she is, the more likely it is that she'll go to bed easily and fall asleep quickly.
I appreciate the foods you have included in her complementary feeds. Try introducing all your staple foods and ingredients. Avoid plain milk, juices at night. Give cereals, porridge, bananas etc before bedtime.
Hopefully it will be of help.
