Suggest Remedy For Severe Pain Below The Ankles While Walking

Suggestive of Sciatica
Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXX, Hi & Welcome.
I appreciate your concern for your beloved mother.
She seems to be suffering from a condition called 'Sciatica'.
It is due to irritation of the sciatic nerve & the pain is typically felt from the low back (lumbar area) to behind the thigh and can radiate down below the knee.
It is most commonly due to herniation of lumbar disc herniation resulting in pressure on the nerve. It can also be due to irritation of the nerve from adjacent bone, muscle, injury in or around the lumbar spine. Sometimes sciatica can also occur because of irritation of the sciatic nerve during pregnancy.
Had I been her treating doctor I would have advised her the following treatment for immediate relief of pain:
1. Application of heat pad or ice-pack over the lower back for 20-30 minutes
2. Anti-inflammatory drugs like Ibuprofen or Naproxen along with a proton pump inhibitor like Pantoprazole
3. She needs to take bed rest during severe symptoms
4. Injection Methylcobalmine once in a week.
X-ray of the spine and MRI to be done followed by an orthopedic or neurosurgical consultation is recommended.
Hope the advice given would be useful to her.

She needs some lab tests along with MRI
Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXX, Hi & Welcome back.
Thanks for your reply.
Since she seemed to had septic arthritis (ankle) and also complaining of pain in other joints as well so I would advise certain lab tests such as CBC, ESR, Rh factor, CR protein, & Anti nuclear antibodies along with MRI scan to find out the exact cause of her problems.
Hope this would help in diagnosis of her condition accurately.
Best wishes.
