Brief Answer:
Get done PFT first.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your question on Health Care Magic.
I can understand your concern.
Get done PFT (Pulmonary Function Test).
PFT if suggestive of some abnormality then you may improve with inhaled bronchodilators and inhaled corticosteroid (ICS).
If PFT is normal then no need to worry for this.
Musculoskeletal pain is more likely.
So consult doctor and discuss all these.
Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.

i am not sure that i agree, doctor. i have had pfts several times. with no abnormalities. sure, i will get one. but the fact that i have pain with palpation concerns me and i will tell you why. i do not think that is normal at all. inhaled bronchodilators and corticosteroids are meds that i have used and use now, and they do not alleviate the pain. i have had solumedrol , quite recently as a matter of fact, in october, although not inhaled. why would the pain be in both sides of my chest in my rib cage, that makes me jump when my ribs are touched with any pressure whatsoever? i would tend to think it is suggestive of something more than just asthma or injury related symtomatology. do you perhaps or not agree? when i was in the most recent pile-up this year; as i said, there were 2, none my fault, i was hit from behind and the airbags did not deploy, but my seatbelt was on, and our seats went supine when the truck driving from behind at about 60 mph hit us. at the time, i felt no chest pains, but back pains, and neck pains. i just am concerned that the ribs on both sides hurting simultaneously is an unusual symptom exclusive to asthma or not. it being so extremely difficult to tolerate being touched is very unusual; as an RN over 25 years, i rarely encountered a patient with that symptomatology. i appreciate your consideration over this. thank you. and i notice a specialist was brought in for this matter.

Possibility of musculoskeletal pain is more.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your follow up question on Health Care Magic.
I can understand your concern.
You are having tenderness (pain on touching).
This is characteristic feature of musculoskeletal pain.
Sometimes calcium and vitamin d 3 deficiency can also cause similar kind of pain.
So please let me know whether you have ever undergone serum calcium and vitamin d 3 levels.
If deficiency then you may need supplements too.
Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.

THANKS, I AM FOLLOWED CLOSELY BY THE HIV CLINIC IN NEW ORLEANS. ROUTINE LABS INDICATED NORMAL CA, BUT MY MEDICARE DOESN'T COVER D3, I DON'T THINK. I TAKE DAILY MVI. I AM CURIOUS AS TO WHETHER A LOCALIZED AREA IS PAINFUL BECAUSE OF A LOW LEVEL OF A VITAMIN OR ELECTROLYTE. I DO APPRECIATE YOUR RESPONSE. THANK YOU.

Brief Answer:
Thanks for your appreciation.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your follow up question on Health Care Magic.
Vitamin D3 deficiency can cause bone and muscle pain. Electrolyte deficiency like low sodium and low potassium can also cause musculoskeletal pain. So get done all these to rule out these causes.
These are treatable causes. If deficiency than you should start supplements. And thanks for your appreciation.
