Suggest Remedy For Severe Pain In Foot

default
Posted on Tue, 4 Aug 2015
Question: I am experiencing alot of pain in my right foot. It feels like i have sprained it but i haven't tripped or fallen awkwardly on it to warrant it. The pain is coming from just below my ankle facing outside. It hurts a little bit to touch but mainly when I put pressure on it whilst I walk. This has been the case for the past 24 hours and has got slightly worse as time has gone on. What could it be?

Brief Answer:
It could be due to calcaneal spur

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.

I have gone carefully through the details and understand your concerns. You need to be clinically examined to evaluate the exact cause and source of the pain. Going by the location, a calcaneal spur could be the source of your pain. It occurs due to calcification where a certain tendon joins with the bone below ankle and while walking as pressure falls on this calcified structure, pain occurs. If that is the case, you would have to use soft padded shoes. Hot compress would be helpful. Analgesics can be used if necessary. Getting an X-Ray of the ankle - anteroposterior and lateral would be helpful. Visit an orthopedician with the X-ray so that he can examine and clinically correlate.
