Suggest Remedy For Severe Pain In Rib Cage After Injury

default
Posted on Wed, 31 Dec 2014
Question: Fell about 2 weeks ago. Pointed edge of porch railing struck me on lower left rib cage (rib 9 - 10) approximately over the spleen. Rib pain went away after a couple days rest.

When bending forward or twisting upper torso, severe pain coming from approximate area of the spleen (?). Has not improved in two weeks, but have no discomfort when lying on my back resting.

Tonight, I noticed that there appeared to be some blood in my stool. Don't have health insurance, so hoping whatever I did will resolve itself with rest. ??

Brief Answer:
Injury has no relation to blood in stool.

Detailed Answer:
Hi
As per your description, pain is most likely due to musculoSkeletal cause.
Minor injuries to the spleen are managed without surgery now a days.
Spleen has no direct communication to the gut. So,injury to the spleen will not cause blood in the stool.
I prescribe Skeletal muscle relaxant tablet containing Thiocolchicoside to my patients with similar complaints.
Blood in the stool can be due to Fissure in ano or Haemorrhoids. Simple hard stool will injure the Anal mucosal lining and cause bleeding.
Please take high fiber diet, plenty of liquids, eat fresh fruits and vegetables. Your stool should be soft. If bleeding continues, please consult your Surgeon and proceed.
Hope I answered your query.
If you have any questions, I will clarify further.
Wish you good health.
Regards
