Suggest Remedy For Severe Pain In The Middle Back Area

default
Posted on Fri, 30 Oct 2015
Question: There is a constricting pain in my back (middle-left position). The pain is there from past 15 days, but now it is so acute, that I am unable to move. I am unable to take deep breath because of same reason. I had visited a doctor 3 days ago and had my ECG, Radiograph of Chest, and Sonography of abdomen and pelvis done. All reports were normal. Though I have a thyroid condition (TSH - 10.20) for which I take a pill every morning. I also have Vitamin B12 deficiency. I am not sure what could be the reason behind this acute pain.

Brief Answer:
Possible Stone disorder?Need a CT abdomen

Detailed Answer:
Hello, Sir.

I can understand our concerns.

The pain could possibly represent a pancreatic disorder or renal calculi(stone disorder).

Ultrasound of the abdomen and pelvis cannot detect these disorders. You may actually miss them on ultrasound.

It very important that you get a 256 multi slice HIGH RESOLUTION CT scan of the abdomen to precisely rule out any stones either in kidneys or pancreas .

Since your cardiac work up is normal ,heart disease can be successfully ruled out.

Vitamin B12 deficiency as well as hypothyroidism will not contribute to such pain episodes.

Since you are already on treatment for these conditions, it does not matter much.

Get the recommended scan done and update me test results.
