Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Welcome on HCM!

Regarding your question, I would explain that your modulated by breathing and posture has nothing to do with your high blood pressure. It is also not related at all to your heart.

So, just relax!

A musculoskeletal disorder, costochondritis, backbone degenerative disorders, a pleural (or pleuro-pericardial) inflammation, etc. should be sought.

I recommend consulting with your attending doctor (internist or GP) for a careful physical exam and some additional tests:

- Complete blood count and PCR (to investigate possible inflammation),
- Chest X ray study
- CPK, ALT & AST
- Backbone imagine tests (X ray films, CT, etc) if suspicions are raised.

Some anti-inflammatory drugs like ibuprofen, naproxen, etc. could be helpful for relieving the pain.

I recommend discussing with your doctor about the above mentioned issues.

Hope to have been helpful to you!

Feel free to ask me again without pain extra money for 3 more follow-up questions.

Kind regards,

Dr. Iliri

Hello Dr - this pain has gone now - I have been to the GP who thought it maybe anxiety related/muscular. NOw I am getting a pain (sat and Sunday) on my rightside of my neck real sharp going from behind the back of my ear down to my shoulder and my neck is real stiff. Taking diclofenac which helps and ibuprofen , it hurts to swallow and I have a sore throat, can you help?

I would recommend as follows:

Detailed Answer:
Hello again!

I am glad that you are feeling better now.

Regarding your new symptoms, I could say that they seem to be related to a viral infection and musculoskeletal pain.

You should know that the pain when swallowing may be related to an upper airways infection. The musculoskeletal pain can be explained by inflammation of the muscles and soft tissues.

The fact that ibuprofen and diclofenac help in this situation is another argument in favor of this diagnosis.

Nevertheless, I recommend consulting with your attending physician for a careful physical examination (your throat) and some tests :

-a cervical column X ray study to exclude possible backbone disorder
-a throat discharge bacterial culture, if an infection is suspected
-a complete blood count and inflammation tests (PCR, sedimentation rate) for possible infection.

Meanwhile, I recommend continuing ibuprofen three times daily for the pain.

Hope you will find this answer helpful!

Kind regards,

Dr. Iliri

Brief Answer:
Your symptoms seem to be related to an infection.

Detailed Answer:
Hello again!

Your symptoms are compatible with an infection of the upper airways.

I recommend you to monitor your body temperature and consult with your attending physician for a physical exam and the above mentioned tests (blood lab tests, throat discharge bacterial culture).

Ibuprofen or diclofenac are recommended in such cases for the pain and temperature control.

Hope you will find this answer helpful!

Greetings!

Dr. Iliri
