Suggest Remedy For Soreness On Head After A Concussion

Please find details below
Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX,
Thanks for writing in to us.
I have read through your query in detail.
A person who suffers concussion injury might report many of the symptoms which are frequently come across in patients having such an injury. This kind of injury considered a mild form of brain injury.
If she has headaches which are rooted inside the head then having that is usual. Studies have shown that very often, patients have more than one type of headache (considering the nature and features of headaches) after a concussion.
If she is having a scalp swelling and that hurts then a clinical examination might be required to know if there is any infection in the scalp swelling. This occurs when there is slight blood collection below the scalp skin and if it develops a small infection over time. This can also cause mild fever as one of its symptoms along with the pain.
People having a concussion might experience headaches, dizziness, fatigue, irritability, anxiety, insomnia, loss of concentration and memory, and noise sensitivity most commonly. These usually get better in 3 months.
Less common symptoms include ringing in the ears, hearing loss, blurred vision, light and noise sensitivity, decreased smell and taste, depression, personality change, post-traumatic stress disorder, decreased sex drive, and nausea and sometimes vomiting.
In conclusion, I would like to confirm that if the pain your friend experiences is related to any scalp swelling at the location of injury and the pain is worsening with or without fever then an infection must be ruled out and a doctor is to be consulted for medication.
If the pain is coming from within the brain and not associated with any swelling then most likely it is a post concussion symptom. Headaches in post concussion can appear even 2 1/2 weeks after the injury.
Hope this answers your question. Please feel free to correct any oversight in my interpretation of your problems and discuss them in detail as per your requirements.
Hope your query is answered.
Do write back if you have any doubts.

Dr.Vivek

Is tenderness present only on applying pressure, pls send pic if possbile
Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX,
Thanks for writing back with an update.
Since you have written that the scalp in the area of injury has become even more tender, it is important to know if the tenderness is present at all times or only when there is pressure on the area as when lying down or touching the scalp intentionally.
Would it be possible for you to attach a picture of the scalp area (by parting the hair as much possible) so that I can get an idea about the size, extent of the swelling and its appearance.
I shall reply back as soon as I get an update from you on the above information.
Regards,
Dr.Vivek
