Suggest Remedy For Spots On The Groin, Arms And Face

default
Posted on Tue, 17 Mar 2015
Question: hello.

A number of months ago I had spots on my groin, arms and also my face. My doctor prescribed antibiotics and anti fungal tablets. These have returned a number of times and now also again.

When I have these spots my temperature is also very high and my vision is blurred and I need to urinate more frequently than normal. I've been to 3 different doctors and 1 dermatologist and an STD clinic twice. I passed all tests and all the doctors believe I just have dry skin or a fungal infection or foliciticis.

I disagree with all of the medical professionals who have assessed me so far as I have such serious symptoms it has to be more serious. Plus the fact that it has now returned again. I am hot / my face is very red, I have stinging spots on my groin and I have spots on my face and need to urinate often.

I attach pics. What do you think this can be? I tested negative for all STD's (twice in the space of 1 year) and also negative for herpes. From my own research these could be the symptoms of diabetes. Can this be true?

I no longer know which doctor to visit next as everyone so far does not see any seriousness in my symptoms despite my vision being blurred and my temperature is raised. What do you advise?

Thanks you.

Hello Dr XXXXXXX

Thank you for getting back to me. I reply to each of your question snow.

1. Is rash associated with itching?

Not itchy but on my groin it feels more like a stinging sensation. Not something I feel I need to itch. I previously had a rash like spots on my arms too. But the marks on my groin keep returning. This lead me to believe it may be an STD eventhough I had not taken any risks. I still completed STD checks twice which were negative.

2. did it start after taking some particular food or after going to bed?

This has been going on for over a year now and I cannot associate it with starting to eat any particular food. It started a few days after moving to Italy although I still eat the same things as I ever did in the UK and XXXXXXX After arriving here I had a massage which I though may have lead to this but I was not shown to have any related infections.

3. are you allergic to some food?

Not that I am aware of.

4. If itch occurs then does it occur specifically between finger clefts and groin area?

Groin area specifically. I had blotchy marks on my arms in the past few months which may be associated / linked. My blurred vision is only when I have these spots.

5. do you have diabetes, hypertension or any other illness?

My blood pressure was normal when last tested although I do feel very hot and my face goes red when I have these spots. I have never been tested for diabetes.

6. are you on any medication?

No.

7. is blurry vision persistent? have you ever visited for eye checkup?

Not persistent. It comes and goes. Usually accompanying the other symptoms. (spots / rash)

8. how often do you need to pass urine daily? specially at night?

Used to be maybe twice per day but now it is 5 or 6 times including having to wake up in the middle of the night to urinate. Which never used to be like this.

9. do you feel pain or burning sensation while passing urine?

No pain, just higher frequency. I had UTI tests which were negative. (tests on my urine samples)

10. is anyone else in the family also having similar complaint?

No, just me.

I hope my extra details help.

Thank you

Brief Answer:
Most probably allergic response; increased urination frequency needs workup

Detailed Answer:
Hello

Thank you for getting back with the answers. I have gone through them. Two things we need to rule out now. First, hypersensitivity/allergic response which in dermatological terminology is termed as "urticaria". Second, diabetes.

>> First Urticaria:

In this condition certain factors triggers allergic response in the body which gives a clinical presentation of rash formation & itch. There are numerous factors. Sometimes one is able to find the exact cause (e.g allergic to particular food) and then prevents it. In other cases broad spectrum immunotherapy is advised which suppresses those cells in the body that causes allergic response. If i were your treating doctor then i would have advised following things:

> cetirizine one at night for 5 days.
> Montelukast one daily for one month. Research has shown that it decreases the allergic symptoms considerably. You might need a prescription for this medicine.

I would also suggest you to under go allergy testing at allergy clinic as you have chronic allergy problem. It will tell that you are allergic to what specific thing. The results will help an allergist to prescribe you immunotherapy to that specific allergen and it will improve the problem.

>> Second diabetes:
Your symptoms of increased urination specially at night needs to be checked. UTI also causes increased urination. As its been ruled out so we will go with other causes. I would suggest you to get following tests done:

1. Fasting Blood Sugar level:
For this you need to keep overnight fast and in the morning get your blood sugar level checked at local clinic or hospital.

2. Random Blood Sugar level:
This can be done 1-2hr after taking meal.

3. Urine Proteins(albumin) levels:
it is the earliest sign of diabetes.

- I'm hopeful that above mentioned steps will help you in a +ve way and you will be able to find the exact cause of your problem and then can manage it accordingly.

- I would also suggest you that if you want to visit hospital for workup regarding your health then only visit a Consultant Medical Specialist.

- visit an eye clinic and get your eyesight checked as well. Although your symptoms appear at the time of rash but its better to get a regular checkup.

Hope I have answered your query. If you have any further questions I will be happy to help if not then don't forget to close the discussion and rate it.
Wishing you good health !!
