Suggest Remedy For Spotting Instead Of Periods?
Question: Hello
I recently has a full gyn exam and a normal pap report. At the time I was prescribed Loestrin. Instead of waiting for my monthly i began taking the pill immediately as I wanted very little/no cycle for my 40th birthday and the Christmas holiday. However, I have been spotting from the day my cycle should have started until now, approx 15 days. I am still taking the pill the same time every day. What can I do to stop the spotting?

Brief Answer:
It will stop on its own.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for trusting us with your health concern.
The spotting is due to the hormonal disturbance caused by starting the pill in the mid cycle. To stop the bleeding you can give a 7 day pill free period, have your period and start the pills again or continue taking the pills as you are taking and wait for the spotting to stop on its own. This is not worrisome and is not harmful for you. It can cause you inconvenience only.

Will taking an NSAID such as Aleeve help?
Brief Answer:
Aleeve will not help.
Detailed Answer:
Hello.

pain killer will not help as there is no associated pain. It can cause a mild increase in the bleeding but will not help in stopping the bleeding due to hormonal imbalance.
