default
Posted on Tue, 27 Jan 2015
Question: Been having some very unusual symptoms, in my brain, and certain other body parts. trying to find the cause. I have a pinching, pulling and twitching sensation in my brain. sometimes it feels like a nerve being pinched other times like somethings hopping around on my brain. Other nerves twitch, bi-ceps, ti-ceps and hamstring muscles. feels like something magnetic causing muscles to move. kinda like those abs machines that send electrical current to the muscles causing them to move. My eyes feel very tired and swore I have a sensitivity to light.

Brief Answer:
Severe anxiety is the likely cause.Need additional details.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for being on healthcaremagic.com.
I am Dr.Ajay Panwar,a neurologist,here to answer your query.

In my view, the most common cause of symptoms you are mentioning can be -Severe anxiety. Other rare possibilities are Benign fasciculations, motor neuron disease (MND) and Radiculopathy.

However, please let me if you have any of the following-
1) leg or arm weakness
2)bladder involvement (not present in MND)
3)sensations loss (not present in MND)
4)difficulty in walking
5)difficulty in speaking or swallowing

To rule out or confirm the cause, it would be mandatory to get a complete neurological examination done. Let me know if any of the above red flag signs are present in you.

A neurologist would be able to differentiate between all these possibilities and decide upon further course of action like the need for MRI or EMG.

Meanwhile, I suggest you to do mental relaxation exercises/yoga for some days and remain stress free.

Hope I answered your query.

If you have follow-up queries, I shall be glad to answer.

Dr.Ajay Panwar,
MD,DM(Neurology)
