Posted on Mon, 22 Sep 2014
Question: My mom has been feeling tiredness for a week now & at times feel dizzy. Also has excessive sweating (more than usual). She has high BP and is under medication. Takes Losar twice a day. Her BP is under control : 140/80.

We got her ECG (showed variations), Echo (normal) & LIPID profile, Glucose-fasting (normal - 90) done. Attached Lipid profile and other blood test details.

It seems her cholestrol & Triglycerides seems to be out of range.
Pls advise.

Brief Answer:
Triglycerides and VLDL are elevated.

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXX

I have gone through all the reports.
Yes, Triglycerides and VLDL (bad cholesterol) are elevated and good cholesterol(HDL) is lower than normal. High cholesterol also increases blood pressure.
To lower cholesterol levels she has to change her diet habits and should do physical exercises like brisk walk for 30 minutes a day. If she already maintaining diet and doing walk then I would suggest you visit your treating doctor to start her on Statins(cholesterol lowering medication).
She should have high fibre diet like healthy vegetables and fruits. Avoid spicy, meat, oily food, sweets. Drink plenty of water.

And I have found abnormalities in urine examination report like blood, wbc, red blood cells in urine.
I would like to know few more details regarding this.
1. Does she has pain or burning sensation while urination?
2. Frequency of urine?
3. Is she diagnosed with Urinary tract infection?
4. Has she done ultra sound scan recently?

Kindly get back to me with details.
Thank you.

Brief Answer:
Get ultrasound scan done.

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX
Thanks for your information.
Since I have noticed abnormalities in urine report I suggest you get ultrasound scan done to rule out renal or ureteric stones or any other renal abnormality and discuss about urinalysis report and cholesterol lowering medication with your treating doctor.
Drink plenty of water.
Give her healthy diet which contains fiber and protein.

Hope I have answered your query.
If you have any queries I will be happy to help you.
Thank you.
