Brief Answer:
screening done by rating scales.

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Welcome to HCM.
I can understand your concerns.

Screening for depression is done using standardised rating scales (like XXXXXXX depression rating scale or Beck's depression inventory). These scales are freely available online.
I hope your doctor might be having this.

However, depression is better assessed using DSM diagnostic criteria.
Even if your doctor doesn't have screening scales, he must be acquainted with the diagnostic criteria.
So, you should not worry.

Hope this answers your query.
Take care.
Thanks.
