A furthher information. I HAVE had diabetes since 1969, and i have been smoking for a long time but quit cold turkey this past January. I had a ekg when diagnosed for weakness in the left leg.. I will be having a cat scan in July to determine the extent of blockage or narrowing of the blood vessel.
The surgeon ( vascular) said there is only one way to treat this problem through surgery. I presently do not suffer any pain in the legs even after beimng on the threadmill for 8 minutes going at a fast walk. I then am too tired to continue.
Is there an alternative, a proactive approach to preventive to surgery. I cannot want to sit back await the necessite of surgery. I exercise daily for an hour, I havve been shedding pounds slowly(35) since xmas and took 4" off my waist. I am removing as many risk factors as I can. Oh , I also take 4,000 U of Omega 3 to dissolve the plaque in the arteries.
What else should I be doing or taking?
Waiting for your answerr. Thankyou. XXXXXXX K.

Brief Answer:
Detail Follows.
Detailed Answer:
Dear Mr. XXXXXXX K.
Angiography is the best way to predict if there is any blockage in your arteries or not.
However, if there is no past history of bleeding from any site, we advise to take a combination of Aspirin and Atorvastatin once daily.
This helps in thinning of blood (in lay man language).
Also, observe following:
1. To continue with regular exercises.
2. To take low fat diet.
3. To keep your diet under control.
4. To keep your diabetes under control.
You can take omega 3 fatty acids, there is no problem in taking them.
If you have any further query, please ask me.
Stay Healthy.

Brief Answer:
Good diet is a better source of vitamins.
Detailed Answer:
Dear Friend.
If you are allergic to statins then you should not take them.
As far as multivitamins are concerned if you take a good diet then you don't require them. However omega 3 fatty acids and fish cod liver oil are known to protect heart. You can take them.
Fenugreek seeds are also helpful in patients with heart disease. But if you are taking Aspirin you should not take fenugreek seeds.
If you have any further query please ask me else close the discussion and rate it.
