Suggest Tests To Confirm Whether The Small Lump In Aerola Is Cancerous Or Not

default
Posted on Thu, 23 Apr 2015
Question: Hi Dr,
I am 26 year old and nursing mother. I have a small lump in my aerola measure about 0.8 cm and its there for almost 7 years didn't increase in size. Recently we did FNAC and the result shows fibrocystic change. Now I started noticing dark black coloring of aerola and having glandular like formation in my shoulder blade and side of arm whc pains. My gp told me its normal change during lactation bt I am very much worried and panicking. Is there any test I could do now without affecting my baby. My dr said NO to scans and excision biopsy is not possible since I am breastfeeding. Is there any test I could do now to confirm its non cancerous. Or is this jst normal during lactation?

Brief Answer:
In lactation there could be enlargement of cystic lesion

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Welcome to Healthcare-Magic
Greetings of the day

Dear Ms XXXXXXX

First and foremost let me reassure you there is no cause for concern. FNAC report done in February 2015 is suggestive of fibrocystic disease, cancerous change is unlikely in such short duration. There is definitely enlargement of cystic breast lesion during lactation and there is no cause for concern. They will subside over period of time. Excision biopsy can be done at later date.

Do get back to me if you need any further assistance, will be glad to assist you.

Thank you dr. Ur answer is convincing. I was scared bec this enlargement is only one side where the lump is found. So this is normal to have this change in only one side.
