Suggest Tests To Diagnose Prostate Cancer
Question: I have a friend who was recently diagnosed with prostate cancer and I am worried about myself. I don't have any symptoms at all. Do I need a PSA test??
Brief Answer:
You do not need PSA test
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for your query.
Prostate cancer is asymptomatic most of the time until it grows bigger.
It is controversial to use PSA test as a screening test to look for prostate cancer. The reason is that though PSA and digital rectal examination is useful in detecting the cancer at earlier stages, enough evidence is lacking for benefit of taking treatment.
If you are really worried, then you can go for it to clear your own doubt.
Hope it answers your query.
