Suggest The Best Remedy To Get Rid Of Dry Eyes Fast
Question: Hello Doctor...
I have been wearing spectacle for last 10 years..its been 2 years i had shifted to wearing contact lens and it was fine....recently in last one year i have been riding my bike daily for 25 kms a day to go to my work place and back home...since i leave my helmet glass open....i started having a bit irritation in my eyes due to wind i guess.....
Now in.last 7 months the problem that i am facing is that i feel irritation in my eyes and sometimes when i talk with the customer , i feel irritation in my eyes and cant look in thier eyes for long...i also started getting strained in my eyes by working for long in my.computer...
I checked with my doctor he said its dry eyes ...he suggested me to use a eye drop called extra lube which contains caboxymethylcellulose eyes drop IP 5mg/ml.
So i have been using this eyes drop till now...
I read in the internet that dry eyes can be cured by taking vitamins capsule containg epa and dha....so currently i have been taking a single vitamins capsule of 400 mg dha though the bottle says to consume 2....these days i am.feeling less strain in my eyes...
Kindly suggest me the best remedy for the same so that i can get rid of dry eyes fast ?

In your case best treatment is to find the cause. Dry weather is a common cause. Other causes are also there like autoimmunity, damage to Meibomian glands etc.
Artificial lubrication with extra lube is a better option as it is safe. EPA and DHA are omega 3, 6, 9 fatty acids. These can have side effects like gastrointestinal irritation, irritability etc. So be careful.
Best remedy is artificial lubrication only, until cause is ascertained. Frequent blinking of eyes will help.

thank you for your reply... i feel the cause of my eye irritation is due to not using the helmet glasses due to which wind was entering my eyes and due to continous looking at the computer without taking much needed breaks as i work in a bank .. so do artificial lubrication help in permanent cure of dry eyes or it is just temporary??? and should i take any vitamins which might aid to my eye condition??? pls advice

Dry eyes means that there are no secretions. Are you sure if you had the symptoms of dry eyes.
I will suggest that you get your eyes tested thoroughly, before you go for further treatments that may harm you.
Vitamins may help with vision but not with dry eyes. Any vitamin that may remotely help is vitamin A, C and E. You can try vitamin A to Z for 1 month.

- stay well hydrated. Drink cleaner water from RO system to avoid any infections.
- Wear anti-glare spectacles while using laptop or tv etc. Keep the brightness of the system on lower side
- Do not sit at the laptop for more than half an hour. Keep taking frequent breaks and move around frequently
- contact lens may worsen the symptoms of dry eyes, so use them judiciously
