Suggest The Ideal Dosage For CoQ10 Taken For Insomnia

Question: Hi, I bought Schiff MegaRed Super CoQ10. Each softgel contains 200 mg CoQ10, Vit E d-alpha tocopherol 200 IU, and vitamin A
(95% as beta carotene and as mixed carotenoids). Even before purchasing this product I was having some problems sleeping. I took the first pill 2 days ago and I don't think it changed the insomnia, slept around 5 hours that night. Then I read at 200 mg CoQ10 could cause insomnia.
So I was wondering if it would be better to attempt to cut the softgel in half, though I have a feeling the gel might be liquid so would be impractical. Or take the pill ever other day.
Would you have an opinion concerning CoQ10? I had read it was good for heart muscle. No physician asked me to take it. Recently I was given some tests for severe fatigue and all results were negative. (Blood tests, CAT scan, Stress Test and Doppler for heart) and told me I should fine. Anyway I have started light weight training, walking, and other exercises and the fatigue seems to be improving.

I am just concerned I might be taking too much CoQ10.

I am a 62 year old man with sleep apnea, my cpap machine says 13 cm. I also have moderate to severe psoriasis and use Triamcinolone Ointment 0.1% and Clobetasol Propionate 0.05%. Other than that I believe my health is fine.

I can understand your concern. Yes, CoQ10 can cause insomnia. It can actually worsen ongoing underlying insomnia.
So in your case, this can worsen insomnia.
So better to avoid daily dosing.
You can not break gel tablets. So better to take it alternate days.
And yes, light weight training, walking and other exercises are good for you,si continue it.
