Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome,

If you are using Tadalafil for erectile dysfunction and have never taken it before, please know that 20 mg is a large dose and not usually a starting dose.

There are 2 different ways this medication is used:

If using it "as needed", you should start with half the dose (ie 10 mg) and take it at least 30 - 45 minutes before anticipated sexual activity. The dose can be increased to 20 mg if 10 does not work adequately for you. Or decreased to 5 mg if you feel it is too much. You should not take it more than once in a 24 hr period.

The other way to use this medication is to take 2.5 - 5 mg daily without regard to sexual activity.

Some precautions:
If you have kidney or liver function impairments, do not exceed 5 mg/dy.
If you are on certain other medications that used a particular liver enzyme for their metabolism, do not take more than 1 tadalafil in 72 hrs.
If you have BPH (benign prostatic hyperplasia) do not exceed 5 mg.
And do not take it if you take nitrate or alpha blocker medications.

I hope this information helps.
