Question : Hi..me and my wife are planning for a baby ..i need to know that before doing so do we need to take some multivitamins? How can we prepare our body for a healthy child?

1. You:

+Take a shower with cold water (as much as tolerated), as warm water showers can kill sperm and reduce the sperm count in your semen
+Eat healthy
+If you are overweight, then try losing as much weight as possible to allow more healthy sperm
+Exercise daily
+Basically live a healthy life style

2. Your wife:

+Also eat well and healthy
+Try to lose weight before conception if she is overweight or obese
+A few tests:
-Ultrasound examination of the lower abdomen and pelvis
-Thyroid profile
-DHEAS
-Testosterone (free and total)
-Prolactin
-FSH
-LH
-Urine examination
+Start on either multivitamins (having at least 400 mcg of folic acid) or folic acid tablets for pre-conception; at least 2 months prior to conception
