Suggest Treatmemt For Bad Throat And Congestion In My Lungs

default
Posted on Wed, 18 Mar 2015
Question: I suffered a cold three and a half weeks ago and it has never really gone away since. It most immediately effected me with a real bad throat and a lot of congestion in my lungs. Whilst my chest has since predominantly cleared I am still left with a cough, short of breath and with an unpleasant throat. I have been advised that it is not an infection and is probably a virus. What should I do?

Brief Answer:
Antibiotics

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thanks for your query.

Sorry for the delay in my response.

Symptoms for long duration could be due to secondary bacterial infection post viral fever.

A viral fever tends to reduce the local immunity of the parts affected leaving it prone for recurrent bacterial infection, resulting in prolonged symptoms.

You may have to take a course of antibiotics which will cure the infection and make you feel better. A Cephalosporins group antibiotic would be a better choice.

Meanwhile do continue symptomatic treatment.

Please do consult your treating doctor fr the prescription of the same.

Hope, this helps.

Wish you good health.

Regards,
