Suggest Treatment And Medication For OCD

default
Posted on Sat, 28 Feb 2015
Question: I am on Klonopin 2 mg, Keppra 1500 mg, Lexapro 50 mg an Solian (amisulpride) 100mg for some OCD symptoms (images) probably caused by agonism in 5HT7 and 5HT2b and then some dopaminergic activity because of Solian. I feel better, and i still have to wait 5 weeks to see if i have a full improvement (for the while it's 90 % after 7 weeks) with this dosage of Lexapro, but since it works very slowly i would like to know also if there are alternatives to amisulpride if this med is causing this kind of images. Antpsychotics like Abilify or Serlect never work with me and i would like to know if older antipsychotics, for example pherfenazine or something like that, can work as well as Solian, but without this kind of side effects.
Thanks beforehand

Brief Answer:
many medications for OCD

Detailed Answer:
Hi dear,

Thank you for your query.

First of all,I would like to know since when you have OCD and since when you are on same treatment?

Have you tried selective serotonin re uptake inhibitor like fluoxetine, flouxamine or tricycle medication clomipramine?

As for OCD, drug of choice is one of them.

If above medication does not work then only we need to add anti psychotic medication.
As you are on anti psychotic medication with anti epileptic medication, first of all we need to diagnose properly.

yes, older anti psychotic works better in OCD but in low dose with watch for extra pyramidal symptoms (EPS) as older anti psychotic medication are prone to cause EPS.

One other medication now a days prefer for OCD is Admenta, so I suggest you to start with 5 mg twice a day after discussing with you treating doctor.

Awaiting your response.

Thank you
