Suggest Treatment For ADHD In A Child

default
Posted on Fri, 3 Mar 2017
Question: I was diagnosed as a child with ADHD. Recently the symptoms have gotten to the point they are effecting my job & my homelife
For many years I controlled the issues I had with routine and I could manage now this seems like I cannot cope and am constantly late, work product being rushed and not my usual standard and most troublesome is only half listening in meetings
Recently I was prescribed depression meds (Wellbutrin & Zoloft) and due to a crazy work travel schedule cannot get to see my doctor. Is it possible to try aderall or another ADD Medicine ? Can I get a prescription via a FaceTime doctors appt ?

Brief Answer:
Consultation

Detailed Answer:
Hello, and thanks for your question.

It sounds like a stimulant medication might be warranted for you. It can help with symptoms of inattention as you describe them. However, stimulants are dangerous, and are Drug Enforcement Agency Schedule 2 Controlled Substances, which require an in-person evaluation and electronically prescribed prescription from a doctor under careful monitoring. You will have to wait to see a doctor in-person.
