Suggest Treatment For ADHD

Question: hello, I have been having a lot of trouble over the years dealing with ADHD. When I was younger I was diagnosed with ADHD but my mother did not want me to take medication. I know it has only gotten worse over the years I am now in college and I have found myself falling behind. I was wondering how I can go about being re-tested to get the help I need.

If you think that you may have ADHD you should be consulted by a psychiatrist.

He or she will check for symptoms of ADHD and will use behavior rating scales.

Very important is history of past and current functioning also information from family members may be useful.

Your doctor will investigate if your symptoms could be due to something other than ADHD.

He or she will do neuropsychological tests and may decide to do CT scan to check for signs of other conditions.

Summary: you should make an appointment with psychiatrist. Try to check about their experience in working with adults with ADHD.
