Brief Answer:
Treatment for ADHD

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for contacting HCM with your health care concerns

You have recently been diagnosed with ADHD. IN the treatment of ADHD the treatment is usually geared toward amphetamines. The Focalin is an amphetamine too. All treatments work well for ADHD but they also carry the risk of anxiety, agitation and tremor. Not everyone gets this so you could possibly tolerate it as well as your daughter. The names of the medications available are methylphenidate or Ritalin, amphetamine salts or Adderall and Dexmethylphenidate or Focalin. More than likely you will be started on generic methylphenidate.

Another class of medication for ADHD is Strattera which is not an amphetamine. It works within the brain similar to an antidepressant. the results are not as robust as with the amphetamines but some people do very well on it too.

The D'r. Put me on 2 pills a day of Adderal 10 Mg twice a day. So far I feel slower and more focused and messes of any kind really brother me, I like to Be neat and tidy, but could never focus long enough to follow through. The only thing I notice bad so far is the first pill I took at 3:00 Pm which is kind of late, so having trouble sleepping of course. Also, I worked out like I usually do from 6:50-7:30 and felt fine. Then I got a horrible head ache about four and half hours after taking it and still there a little, but definitely getting better, at 10:30, when it should Be out of my system right? Does this get better with time? This is my first time ever being on medication prescriptions like this.

Brief Answer:
Adderall side effects

Detailed Answer:
You are currently on Adderall and you have had some side effects. With time those side effects should lessen. A typical adderall pill will last up to 6-9 hours so taking your medication late in the afternoon will affect your sleep. The headaches will lessen like I said with more time and your body learning how to metabolize it. If you still have problems with headaches next week then you may need to tell your doctor and switch to a different medication
