There are many causes of slow heart rate , some are harmless while some are harmful.

Some of the common causes are Thyroid problems , Problems in heart and most important medication induced. Most of the Blood Pressure medications and Angina medications can slow the pulse rate .

So before going to the evaluation for the cause of your slow Pulse rate I need to know what medication are you taking for your Blood pressure and Angina. Kindly let me know .

Looking forward for your reply.

I am on a lot of medications: Here's the list: Levothroxine o.05mg; isosorbide Mononitrate 300 mg (ANGINA); simivastatin 20mg; doxasosin 1mg; benicar HCT 20 mg; coreg CR 20mg; repaglinide 1mg; novolog 70/30 insulin; nitrostat (as needed); for the past week I have been taking valacyclovir 500 mg and should take it for two more days. I guess I should I have survived cancer three times:
breast cancer in 1999; colon cancer 2004; and kidney cancer 2005 at which about 20 percent of my kidney was removed. I was wondering if I could wait and call my doctor on monday or should I be off to the emergency room.

Brief Answer:
Reduce the dose of Coreg CR

Detailed Answer:
HI

Thanks for follow up .

Don't worry it's not an emergency and there is no need to go to ER. Among the medicines you are taking Coreg CR contains Carvedilol whose effect is to lower heart rate.

Once you reduce this drug your heart rate will go back to normal. You need to consult your doctor regarding reducing the dose of Coreg as other Blood pressure medicine dosage has to be increased in case you reduce or stop coreg.

Hope this information was useful to you.

Any clarification feel free to ask .
