Brief Answer:
Normal reaction to stressed situation...

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX

I am sorry to hear that you are dealing with oscillations in blood pressure at your age (39).

It is normal for blood pressure (bp) to spike at high level when you are stressed as a normal body reaction to this stress situation. You need to face and overcome this stressed situation, thus, your body needs more energy provided by more blood as bp increases.

I usually advise my patients to measure the bp after resting for up to 20 minutes, sit and not to laugh, eat, drink, talk while measuring bp to avoid false results.

If I was your caring doctor would advise to:
- monitor your bp (as prescribed earlier) for 1 week, record the results and pass to me (or to your doctor) for further evaluation
- run : ECG, cardiac echo, holter monitoring, stress test to exclude heart problems
- do: abdominal ultrasound, biochemical balance to exclude other metabolic issues.

If everything is ok, then, it is related to your personality pattern. Try to :
- cope with stress
- avoid coffee or other caffeinated drinks
- avoid alcohol/tobacco
- eat healthy
- get more exercised

Hope it answered to your queries!

Most times it reads 145/95 and after resting for a while it is 125/85. Most times it reads this high immediately I wake up.

Brief Answer:
BP within normal range...

Detailed Answer:
Hi back,

Your bp at resting is within normal range. The reading up to 145/95 after waking up and during the day is also normal. The increase immediately after waking up is due to morning hormones that are needed to carry out daily duties. There is no problem. Continue taking medications as advised by your doctor and measure your bp as advised earlier.

Thank you Dr. Benard. I have been weak since after I woke up after I had sex. My has increased to 140/100. Feel like I want to loose balance. Actually I am taking Co - enzyme Q10, krill oil and probiotics supplements and Systolex. I have been experiencing low libido. I stopped my medications because of the side effects. My readings have been fine without the prescribed medications. Can my loss of libido be due to these supplements?

Brief Answer:
It's not from supplements....

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX and welcome back!

Your loss of libido is more associated with psychogenic factor than from supplements, and i recommend to see what happens if you stop them. If nothing happen then it's not from supplements.

Hope it answered to your query!
