Suggest Treatment For Barrett's Esophagus

Question: I have barrett's esophagus, i am attaching the biospy and endoscopy reports. i want to know whether it is short segment of barretts or long segment of barretts. is it initial stage of barretts.
Brief Answer:
Long segment Barrett's esophagus
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for posting your query.
I went through the reports.
You have long segment Barrett's esophagus.
Your biopsy report says you have simple Barrett's esophagus without dysplasia. This is an early stage of Barrett's esophagus.
You can repeat the biopsy to confirm it.
If the repeat biopsy also does not show any dysplasia , follow up every 3 years is suggested.

Brief Answer:
Prevention of reflux
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Barrett's esophagus is a complication of long standing reflux.
Worsening can be prevented with control of reflux with medications that prevent reflux.
Prevention of dysplasia is still an unresolved issue and many studies are going on how to prevent dysplasia in Barrett's esophagus.
There is no specific time interval to say how many years it takes to develop dysplasia. It may take even years. Thats why periodic follow up is advised.
