Suggest Treatment For CIPN In Hands And Legs

Question: My Wife was treated with Vidaza injections for a blood disorder. As a result of these injections my wife has been unable to walk for 4 years now. Her problem is with her gait an balance. She can walk using a walker, but that is all. The doctors say she has CIPN in both her legs and hands Is there any treatment out there for her , she just gave up when the PT she was give did nothing the improve her balance or walking ability.

I read your question carefully and I am sorry about what has happened to your wife.

I have to say that unfortunately there are no specific treatments for CIPN, at least no treatment to reverse it. All we have at our disposal is medication to alleviate sensory symptoms like pain and paresthesias, but regarding gait and balance like in your wife's case there aren't any options apart from withdrawing the causing medication and physical therapy.
