Suggest Treatment For DVT In Lower Limb
Question: yes,thanks.
I have been in the hospital in april and they a DVT in my left leg and some smaller clots in the lungs.
I was given a shot 2x a day to dissolve them of a drug I believe is called lenovux (sp?))
I am now experiencing swelling, pain in the same leg.
I have some of the prefilled they sent me home with the needles but is called enoxaparin in 100 mg prefilled syringes.
is this the generic of lenovux. I have 5 syringes left and safe to finish this supply to reduce the swelling and pain walking? please don't advise the ER room and receiving the same treatment of lenovux 2x a day when I am much more comfortable at home.

Hi XXXXXXX
You have Deep vein thrombosis in the lower limb and probably have had Pulmonary embolism. I suggest you continue Enoxaparin twice a day. This is an injection to thin your blood. I usually convert my patients to oral congeners of the drug in the form of Tab Acitrom or Warfarin. To convert to one of these drugs both the oral medicine and the Enoxaparin injection needs to be continued for 4 to 5 days and we measure INR by a blood test and continue the injection till the INR is between 2 and 3. The idea is to maintain the INR on that value for six months with checking INR every 15 days. The injection is stopped once INR reaches that value and the patient is continued on Acitrom and Warfarin for six months at least.
I dont know about Lenovux but it is probably a newer form of the Enoxaparin. It probably must have been Lovenox which is Enoxaparin only.
I suggest you follow the treatment modality above and see a Vascular Surgeon who can do all this for you. But please dont stop the injections until you have started oral anti coagulants.
