Suggest Treatment For Eales Disease, Blurred Vision And Symptoms Of TB

Question: After being diagnosed with EALES DISEASE I was laser treated 1 week ago. Due to stress from laser surgery I now have blurred vision, which my doctor feels should get cured sooner or later, but for now to work I have am using spects. temporarily -1.25 & +2.0 in my left and right eyes respectively. My skin test Mantoux came positive and so did TB GOLD IRGA (10.1 on a normal range of 0.35) came positive. But since I do not have any other TB symptoms, like cough, weight loss and have a clear chest, my ophthalmologist has not suggested any medication for TB and feels we should wait for a couple of weeks to see if my Retinal Veins show any signs of further damage. Where am I going with this? Do I have TB?

Brief Answer:
TB unlikely.Need confirmation through sputum culture for latent infection

Detailed Answer:
Hi Sir.

I understand your query and concern.

I have gone through your uploaded images as well.

A positive test on TB GOLD-IGRA does not always rule in the infection of TB.

False positives are also possible with this test.

Hence it is very important to get an X ray chest and sputum culture for accurate diagnosis in your case based on your asymptomatic clinical profile.

Latent infection should be ruled out in your case based on test result of 10.1

Post your further queries if any.
Thank you.

The Chest X-Ray was done too. It was clear. Could it not be TB of any other body part then? Also, was laser the best choice for eales disease

Brief Answer:
Sputum culture for TB bacilli is an absolute must in your case.

Detailed Answer:
Hi Sir.

I understand your concern.

Laser is definitely the best choice for Eales disease.

Chest x ray cannot differentiate TB in all cases.

Hence its always safe to have a sputum culture done to rule out pulmonary TB.

There is a possibility for TB to affect other body organs as well.

But thinking in this line should be supported by other correlated clinical signs and symptoms pertaining to the affected organ in suspicion.

Post your further queries if any.

Thank you.
