Detailed Answer:
Hi and thanks for the query,
The most omportant step in the treatment of eczema is making is making a proper diagnosis and being sure it is eczema. Many skin conditions can mimic eczema.
Ointments and topical steroids usually work in most cases. Steroids might cause the skin to thin in some cases. Appreciable results in some cases are only seen when treatment is taken over a long time like say a few months. If your skin results so much to steroids, other available but more expensive medications like Calcinerium do exist.
Use warm water (not hot nor very cold water to bathe) and get advice for soft lotions to use from your pharmacy.
If skin condition persist, you might need to see your dermatologist to double check if its not something else or for further specialized care.
Kind regards,
Dr Bain.
