Suggest Treatment For FTT In Infant
Question: My baby is 1 year old and 13.5 lbs. So far, blood, urine and stool tests are normal. Her pediatrician did not check any endocrine functions because he did a wrist x-ray and said that the growth plates look normal which would rule out endocrine issues. Does this sound right?
Brief Answer:
Kid is failing to thrive - needs evaluation
Detailed Answer:
Hi....your kid is born slightly underweight.
She definitely needs evaluation.
Along with endocrine work up, I would prefer to rule out other metabolic causes like renal tubular acidosis, liver disorders and heart issues.
I would suggest -
1. Renal function tests
2. Liver function tests
3. Urine specific gravity
4. Thyroid function tests
5. Ultrasound abdomen
6. ECHO of heart
7. Urine screening for inborn errors of metabolism
