Suggest Treatment For OCD And Anxiety

Question: Hello, I'm a 20 year old male with no medical issues and am medication free. I do suffer from clinical OCD and anxiety. Today I went to a massage parlor for my stiff back due to my job requiring me to lift heavy objects. After the massage I was taken and given a table shower on a gym like style mat. I have a small healing boil on my left underarm and my inner thighs were chaffed from the long walking. What are my chances of Staph/MRSA

Brief Answer:
chances present, wait and observe, antibiotics if symptoms arise

Detailed Answer:
Hello, greetings! Thanks for posting your query on hcm.

I understand your concern about acquiring an infection at the parlour. Parlours can provide breeding places for staphylococcus/methicillin resistant staphylococcus to grow, if not hygienic.

Our skin, as such has many kinds of bacteria growing on it (including staph), but when these bacteria enter a wound/cut on another person's body, that may lead to an infection.

If the parlour did not change the underlying diposable sheet for you, the massuesse used unwashed hands or unsanitary instruments, then there is a chance of acquiring Staph.

These infections can initially begin as just a small pimple/boil, but can considerably spread overnight.

If you have an open wound as in your case, a healing boil, or eroded skin like your chaffed thighs, it can increase your chances of acquiring staph.

I would recommend you to carefully observe yourself for the next few days. If you observe any boil/pimple/rash on your body that is increasing in size or any redness and tenderness (cellulitis) in any part of the body along with fever, you may have to take a course of antibiotics like Bactrim or Septra for 7 days. You may obtain the prescription from a registered medical practitioner.

Hope I answered all your queries. If you have any further queries, feel free to ask me, if not kindly close the question and rate the answer.

Wish you good health!
