Suggest Treatment For OCD And Distraction Due To Sexual Thoughts
My cousin is in teenage right now, the sexual thoughts are understandable, but this is affecting his studies a lot. 1) Could you please let me know how to avoid sexual thoughts during studies?
2) He told me that he masturbates every night before going to sleep. He does not get sleep without masturabating. Will this affect his sexual ability or health ?
3) When he is sexually aroused, his penis enlarges. At times, when the penis becomes too big, it pains. Is this normal?
Increasing dose of medication may help
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for using healthcaremagic.
I read your query and understand your concerns.
If your cousin do not like to have those sexual thoughts and masturbates because he is compelled to do so, this means his sexual thoughts are part of Obsessive Compulsive disorder. I regularly see that sexual thoughts are integral part of OCD symptomatology and it is possible that same applies to your cousin. Effect on studies due to sexual thoughts indicates toward pathology rather than normal sexual thoughts.
Definitely his therapist need to take into consideration of sexual thoughts in treatment of his OCD. Increasing dose of medication may help at times. In some cases adding medication from other groups like antipsychotics help in control of OC symptoms.
Masturbation is normal and there is no harm associated with it. It is completely natural like sexual arousal for any men or women. Not getting sleep again indicates that he is forced to do masturbation to alleviate anxiety attached with it. But I must assure you that because of masturbation he is not going to lose his health.
It is normal. Prolonged erection stretches muscles around it and if not relieved causes mild pain. If the pain is very severe and intolerable there must be something wrong. As you said it occurs at times but not regularly which means it is just normal variant of sexual arousal.
I hope this helps you.
