Question: i want to ask u about ocd(obsessive compulsive disorder) tht someone of mine is suffering frm ths..tht she is scared of dirtyness and every single minute was her hand with water

it is one of the common problem for which patient visits my clinic.
it is easily treatable. so do not worry.
according to her history i am sure about she is having obsessive and compulsive disorder.
treatment:
treatment comprises two parts
1. medicines
2. counselling
1. medicines:
ocd treatment is done by medicines like
fluoxetine
fluvoxamine
clomiprime
these drugs will reduce her impulse and obsession in 2 weeks. these drugs affects slowly and treatment course is around 3 months.
2. counselling
counselling techniques like flooding and response prevention play a major role in early relief and prevention of relapse after discontinuation of drug. so side by side treatment is also needed. such techniques comprise how to control impulse. room structure to avoid such environment.
so visit a local psychiatrist as these drugs she will get on prescription only.
after taking treatment she will be fine and her life will become more confident.
she will able to take proper decision as ocd hampers decision making and causes great discomfort to patient as well as her whole family and friends.

Is this illness fully treatable nor just can control?And does she need to take medicine for whole life?If she stops taking medicine will the illness relapse? Because she is too much scared of dirtyness and continously wasing her hand, leg and head, she cant divert her mind from it.

Ocd can happen to anyone. generally who are having borderline personality trait. means highly health conscious and emotionally labile.
