Brief Answer:
Yes. Weight loss will help in conception.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for trusting us with your health concern.
PCOD is a condition where in numerous small fluid filled cysts will be located along the edge of each ovary, which affects release of Egg (Ovulation) causing difficulty in getting Pregnant.
It is an endocrine condition in which there is high LH/FSH ratio, increased androgen production and high oestrone levels. It is usually associated with abnormal hair growth , obesity , menstrual disturbances and infertility. Since you have a family history of diabetes this predisposes you to diabetes even more.
Treatment includes lifestyle modification in which weight reduction and diet plays an important role. Weight reduction will decrease the insulin resistance increase the chances of normal ovulation and will decrease menstrual irregularities thus increasing your chances of spontaneous conception.
The most important is exercising to lose weight and becoming fit. If exercise is not done then the hormonal imbalance will still be there. Proper diet consisting of low carbohydrates, low fat diet with plenty of fresh fruits and green leafy vegetables is recommended. Drink plenty of water. Do daily brisk walking for 40 minutes. Avoid junk food, pastries, colas. In PCOD the chances of having diabetes are also higher.
Metformin drug is widely used for the treatment of PCOD and weight reduction but should not be taken without doctor's guidance.
