Suggest Treatment For SLE And Joint Pain
Question: My Son was diagnosed with SLE (LUPUS) about 2 year back. He was put on steroids. The dosages have reduced now and he is fine. The symptoms he had when he was diagnosed was joint pain. That was followed with low hB and wbc count with loss of appetite. Since now all these things have improved and he is fine but he still is on very low dose of steroids. This too might stop in another 2 months. I want to know is there any cure in your field? Please do let me know.

Thanks for contacting Ayurveda with your child health concern and following is /are necessary guidelines:
1. Since he is on long term steroid therapy thus look for:
. easy bruising ( platelet count)
. thinning of bones ( X ray of vertebral column)
. hypertension ( blood pressure measurement)
. weight gain
. prone to frequent infections (WBC Count)
2. Since it is an Autoimmune disease thus in Ayurveda we generally follow the Immunomodulatory (Rasayana Chikitsa) treatment for which one can have :
. Ashwagandha, Shatavri,Guduchi,Yashtimadhu, Rasna XXXXXXX
3. Other Drugs which can be successfully be prescribed is/are:
. Yograj gugullu,Tryodashang gugullu , Arogyavardhini vati,Vishtinduk vati, Maharasnadi kwatha,Lakshadi gugullu.
PS. Do not give Iron supplements since Hemoglobin in such patients is on lower side and giving extra iron will result in iron toxicity.
