Suggest Treatment For UTI During Pregnancy
Question: My wife is 32 weeks pregnanet and in her urine test it looks like she had uti.
so doctor prescribed BD-CEF 500 twice a day and also bifilac once a day.
also she is taking following drugs
1. Thyronorm 25mcg once in monring
2. argitas 10 g once a day
3. Triple A cal D once a day
4. ecosprin 75 once a day
5. mashyne 1000 once a day
6 Intafol-D once a day
7. Duphaston 18mg twice a day
so i wanted to know that medicine prescribed for UTI is safe for unborn baby and my wife
also is it safe to take with other prescribed medicines
please let me know as we are little worried also please check attached urine report

BD CEF 500 is safe in 8 weeks of pregnancy for your wife and unborn kid.
And there is no significant interaction with other drugs.
But it is safer now to put her on lemon barley water/Cranberry juice to prevent further infection.

Your wife has E-coli infection that is difficult to totally eradicate. She has already taken BD CEF for it.
Another drug to which she is sensitive is Nitrofurantin (Furadentin) but it is unsafe in the last two-4 weeks of pregnancy. So I will not advise it.
Please only put her on Cranberry juice 2 tsf twice/ Cranbe capsule--one capsule twice a day. It will dislodge the bacteria that stick firmly to bladder wall and clear the infection. Do not give any further antibiotics.
