Suggest Treatment For Xanax Withdrawal Symptoms

default
Posted on Thu, 26 Mar 2015
Question: I have used Trazadone 100 mg for sleep the last few nights following a very rapid (5 day) detox from Xanax. My vision is blurry, I'm too weak and dizzy to stand, and my hands are shaking. How long will this persist if I continue the Trazadone? How long will it persist if I discontinue? Thanks!

Brief Answer:
These are Xanax withdrawal symptoms

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for using healthcaremagic.

The symptoms you described are more related to xanax withdrawal and less likely due to Trazodone.

Since they are related to xanax withdrawal they are likely to persist for less than two weeks from now irrespective of Trazodone use.

I hope this answers your question.
if you have more questions feel free to write back to me.
Thanks and regards.

Yes, I bought a couple of follow-up questions so I should use them.

This was close to a "cold turkey" quit of Xanax and alcohol. I have to believe the detox after so many years of use should be medically supervised and managed for longer than a few days. Do you agree?

Most importantly, this is debilitating to the point that I have no self-care: not eating, etc. So, it cannot be tolerated for many more days.

I think I should go to an emergency room and ask to be admitted to an inpatient detox program. Do you agree?

Brief Answer:
I agree partially

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for reverting back to me.

If you say that you are not able to do self care and eating support is required getting admitted is better option.
I must also inform you that if social support system is available OPD based treatment have good value in management of your current symptoms.
Thanks and regards.
