Suggest Treatment For A Bruised Arm In An Elderly Person
Question: my mother is 90 years old she suffered a fall last week and broke her shoulder bone she has her arm in a sling it's been about two weeks her arm has become really bruised she is diabetic
Brief Answer:
Due to hematoma caused by fracture.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
The appearance of the bruise in the area is suggestive of bleeding- hematoma inside which is a normal finding in case of a fracture. The swelling and bruise will gradually fade away on its own. in case there is an increasing pain in the arm or the bruised area then an infection needs to be ruled out after a direct examination.
I hope this answers your query.
