I suggest to do the surgery...
Detailed Answer:
Hello and thank you for asking Healthcaremagic.
I am Dr.Endri Katro and I will be answering at your questions.
In surgey we have a say "If a person with gallstone has 1 attack of intense pain (like in your case) than he needs to do the surgery.
First I will explain what might happen if you don't do the surgery.
1-A possibility is that you will never experience another attach of pain and you will live a long and a hapoy life with the gallstone. This is in the best cenario. Every doctor is aftaid of the complications if the surgery is not done.
2-The stone blocks the cystic duct and you experience the same pain,or even worse and your gallbladder might get infected and in that case you need to do the surgery as soon as possible. The surgeon might not be able to perform a laparoscopic cholecystectomy due to the inflammation and the infection,so he might need to perform the old way, open surgery.
3-The stone blocks the common bile duct (hepatic duct) so you might have jaundice. In this case the surgery will be done and they will need to do an ERCP to remove your stone from the hepatic duct.
4-Pancreatitis (infection/inflamation of the pancreas) due to the migration of the stone from the gallbladder. Pancreatitis can be treated easily in most of the times through antibiotics and other therapy.BUT in some rare cases it can cause even death.
5-There is a theory that gallstone can cause cancer of the gallbladder.
I suggest you do surgery. You will not have any problem if your gallbladder is removed because our body just stores the bile in the gallbladder. The liver produces the bile and there will not be any side effects if you remove it.
If you have any other question, don't hesitate to contact me.
Wish you good health.
