Suggest Treatment For A Kidney Stone

Posted on Mon, 11 Jul 2016
Question: I discovered that I had a 3mm kidney stone that began traveling on 6-12 causing blood in my urine. Pain began 6-13. Went to emergency 6-14 because I was out of my home area. Never caught the stone but am pretty sure it has passed. Woke this morning 6-18 wit a #6 pain level from the same area. Is this just residual pain? The CT scan showed only the one stone and no other growths.

Brief Answer:
kidney stone

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for contacting HCM with your health care concerns

I am sorry to hear that you have a kidney stone. In all probability you did not pass the stone and the pain is still teh original stone. Pain from a kidney stone is not actually the stone causing the pain. The pain is caused from the stone blocking the ureter and the pressure build up in the ureter is the pain you experience. So the other day the pressure was released and your pain resolved without passing the stone. Now today the stone is blocking again causing you to have pain once again. I would recommend drinking lots of extra fluids today to help push the stone out. Also keep your pain medication handy because you may need it. If your pain become intolerable you may need to return to the ER or to an urgent care.
