Suggest Treatment For A Rash On The Penis Head

default
Posted on Thu, 23 Jun 2016
Question: Just Finished doxycycline perscription and noticed rash on head of penis and a smaller similar red rash/cracked skin/ sore on foreskin. Bloating, passing gas, etc. Went to doctor this morning and she said it was bacteria related and told me to use anti fungal cream 1% for seven days. She said bacterial infections usually dont open like the one on the under side of my foreskin however if I had been masterbating or playing with it that could do it.

Brief Answer:
candidial balanitis

Detailed Answer:
Hello. Welcome to Healthcaremagic.com. I have read your query. I understand your concern. As per details, it seems to be fungal infection only to me.
Fungal infection involving genitalia is known as Candidial balanitis. It is characterised by cracked skin or rash associated with itch usually.
In such cases, I also prefer to advise topical antifungals like clotrimazole cream / miconazole cream/ sertraconazole. Oral antifungals like fluconazole also help.
You may take antihistaminics like levocetrizine for symptomatic relief of itch if present.
Keep the area clean and dry. Avoid contact if sexually active till the infection subsides.
I hope it helps.
Take care
