Suggest Treatment For A Sebaceous Cyst On The Labia

Question: DR'S OFFICE TOLD ME A i HAVE A SEBACEOUS CYST ON THE LABIA. STATED i DID NOT NEED TO HAVE IT REMOVED IF IT DID NOT BOTHER ME. SEEN BY A NP. ADVISED IF IT DID MOT BOTHER ME TO LEAVE IT ALONE. MY CONCERN IS COULD IT BE CANCEROUS? DON'T KNOW IF THE ADVISE IS GOOD. SHE TOLD ME IF IT DOES NOT. BOTHER ME WHY GO THROUGH THE PAIN OF REMOVING IT. IS THAT GOOD ADVISE?

Hello,

if it's a sebaceous cyst then it's not cancer... If you do develop symptoms, for example if the cyst becomes infected, then treatment might be required. Since it doesn't bother you , you can leave it alone (if it's a sebaceous cyst, that is). Your doctor (and you) should check whether it continues to grow or not. If it does then a visit to the gynecologist might be required. Otherwise you can forget about it completely.

What I did not understand is whether the diagnosis "sebaceous cyst" was determined by a doctor or not. If your doctor told you that you have a sebaceous cyst then there is no need to worry about it. If it wasn't the doctor then perhaps you should ask the doctor's opinion.
