Suggest Treatment For Abdominal Pain And Chronic Constipation
Pain is most likely due to Constipation.
Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXXX
This pain that you mention is most likely arising from your large intestine due to the distension and constipation. Have you tried any medication for the constipation?
I suggest you get your constipation treated and I believe the pain should get resolved.
You could try Senna or Isabgol husk at night. If that does not work then you could try Syrup Lactulose 20 to 30ml at night after dinner.
If this also does not treat your constipation then you should see your GP or a Gastroenterologist to examine what is wrong. He can examine you and advice you accordingly and might advice you an Ultrasound abdomen and a Sigmoidoscopy to see whether everything is well in your large intestine.
Do not worry. The pain seems to be due to the constipation and you should try and get that treated first.
Take care,

Thanks for getting a load off my mind. I was scared it might be something more serious.
I do have a follow up question though.
I have Acid Reflux for many years and I have been taking a daily Prilosec pill for many many years - I believe over 10 years maybe. Recently, about a year ago, I have also started to take 75mg of Zantac at night since Prilosec was not doing the Job.
What should I do? I am sure both Prilosec and Zantac are hurting me inside and must not be digesting the food properly.
Do you have any suggestions of weaning myself off of these two drugs?
Thanks for your reply.
Regards,
XXXX
You can stop both and see.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Both the drugs that you mention are for decreasing stomach acid secretion and should not be taken together. Prilosec is safer and usually more effective than Zantac. Prilosec is to be had empty stomach half hour before meals and Zantac to be had half hour after meals.
I suggest you could stop both but your acid reflux might trouble you then. But you can try. If that happens you could try Tab Pantoprazole 40mg instead of these two on empty stomach before breakfast.
Take care and do let me know if I could be of any further help.
