Hello and welcome,

If it was a small amount of bleeding and it was on the tissue and not the stool, and it followed straining to move your bowels, then it could be from an irritated hemmorhoid, but it can also be from a small rectal tear or anal fissure. These can happen as the stool stretches the mucus membranes and causes small tears. They usually heal without treatment fairly quickly in a day or two.

I recommend keeping your stools soft for a day or two (stool softener, stewed prunes, etc) and it will likely resolve quickly. If it was from a small tear, it will heal, and if it was from an irritated hemorrhoid, it probably won't continue to bother you unless the hemorrhoid becomes more enlarged over time.

If, however, the bleeding continues, or increases markedly, or you develop rectal pain, then do go in to be seen.

I hope this information helps. Please let me know if I can provide further information.
