Suggest Treatment For Abdominal Swelling While Having Constipation

default
Posted on Wed, 15 Jun 2016
Question: I have a problem with swelling of the abdomen not due to constipation, I have had colon resection in 2005 due to continuing constipation and found i had diverticalitis. After the surgery problem was solved, and stomach return to flat no more swelling.
January 2015 blood clots were found in both lungs and treated and I am still on blood thinners and advair, proair.
Now my stomach is mostley flat when I wake up of a morning and begins to swell with any kind of activity such as just walking and with-in just a few hours I look like I am 9 months pregnant. I have had two colonostomys since January 2015, small growths were foung and sent for testinng of cancer and were Benign.
I was told Friday the 15th of this month by a Pluminary Hypertention Doctor that the swelling was caused by swollowing of air...I just don't understand how this is a continues problem that was not happening until the blood clots were found and treated. The swelling happens on a daily basis even when just riding in a vehicle.
Please Help me with this problem so that I can regain a nomal life style.

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you for asking!
I read carefully all your concerns and I can say as follows :
1.You are reporting to have abdominal swelling during the day.
Previous history is diverticulitis.
2.Your actually symptoms may be related with:
- gallbladder issues
- air swallow during feeding
- IBS plus bacterial gut misbalance
- SIBO (small intestinal bacterial overgrowth )
3.If I were your treating doctor I would recommend to do :
- abdominal ultrasound
- hidrogen breath test
- fecal culture test
- fecal test for candida overgrowth
4. Meantime I suggest to :
- use plenty of water
- eat slowly and try to avoid air swallowing
- avoid foods that increase gas production like beans, broccoli etc.

Hope this will be of help!
Wish you health!
